Legislation already exists -- both model best practice legislation and laws on the books -- to enact the key reforms Good Jobs First promotes.
Good Jobs First has drafted model subsidy reform legislation with language requiring reporting and disclosure of subsidy information; the creation of quality jobs and a cap on the total subsidy amount; and recapture of subsidies in cases where companies are found noncompliant:
Citations for existing laws from states and cities around the country can be found on the pages for the individual key reforms.
While the laws featured on this site are among the best practice in the country, keep in mind that they are in many cases not perfect, and may need to be tweaked for your particular state or city. Many can be strengthened or tailored to fit the needs of your area - to cover additional subsidy programs, require a particular method of reporting information, etc. If your campaign writes a bill that could be used as a model by others, please let us know!
