Subsidy Tracker, the nation’s only public and free database of economic development incentive awards, today introduced a new feature that allows the user to display summary data for more than 10,000 different localities across the country. The summaries, like those previously provided for states, show subsidy totals and list the biggest recipient companies along with links to each individual entry.

“This new tool offers taxpayers an easy way to see where their locality’s economic development dollars are going,” said Kasia Tarczynska, the Research Analyst at Good Jobs First who leads the Subsidy Tracker data collection effort.
Other new features in the database, which already links companies named in individual awards to their corporate parents, include pages summarizing subsidies by industry and by the state or country in which parent companies are located.
Subsidy Tracker has also updated its entries from 10 states (Arkansas, Connecticut, Florida, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maine, New York, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Tennessee) and 43 programs (four local, 37 state and two federal). Subsidy Tracker has added four megadeals (those worth at least $50 million) with a total value of $658 million. The largest megadeal, $460 million, is for a petrochemical plant that will be built by Exxon Mobil and Saudi Basic Industries in Texas.
The database now contains over 540,000 entries from 972 federal, state and local programs. The dollar value of the incentive awards included in the database is over $268 billion.
Good Jobs First is a non-profit, non-partisan, Washington, DC-based resource center promoting accountability in economic development subsidies. Subsidy Tracker was launched in 2010 and has more than quintupled in size since then.
